5/13 – KBO Pick

Wyverns (-135) at Twins

The KBO has definitely helped keep me entertained during stay-at-home life. I love researching and digging through data about this fun league. I have many ties to South Korea. My grandparents migrated from China to South Korea (the closest free land) to escape the Communist Revolution. My wife is Korean and her family still resides there. I had the pleasure of attending a Doosan Bears game a few years back. It was such a fun experience – imagine each batter of your favorite team getting a unique, catchy cheer and dance that a group of good looking cheerleaders lead the entire stadium in performing. Freaking hilarious. For today's pick, I am featuring the game on ESPN tomorrow morning. With the way the lines are jumping all over the place, who knows what it will be by the time I’m done with this write-up, but I got it at -135. I love the pitching match-up in favor of SK. There’s only a handful of local pitchers that can compete with the superior foreign pitchers in the KBO and tomorrow’s Twins starter Lim Chan Gyu AIN’T one of them. He’s terrible. It’s also his season debut since his original start was rained out, so I predict that he will be fighting off some jitters. His last real game was starting in the Wild Card game and getting yanked after 1 inning after giving up a 2 run HR, so I imagine he must be putting a lot of pressure on himself to redeem that performance. Lim also has struggled against SK – a career 5.644 ERA and since 2017, the Twins have gone 3-7 against SK when Lim starts. Ricardo Pinto, the SK starter, had a really nice debut although it was against the lowly Lions. It was a promising start and should definitely build some confidence and momentum for this next game. Overall, SK is off to a bad start, but they have consistently been one of the KBO’s best teams. In addition, they are one of the best performing teams on the road. In 2019, they had a higher Win% on the road than at Home! They’ve had some pitcher turnover (Kim Kwang-hyun going to the MLB), but their offense hasn’t changed much and they have some excellent hitters – they just need to find a way to get it going. They were resilient last season when they got embarrassed. According to a #SDQL3 query that @CharliesHustle2 shared, in 2019, Wyverns went 7-3 after losing a game by 4 or more runs. I think SK turns it around and gets a W. Pick: SK Wyverns (-135)

Documented Picks: KBO Season-to-date Record: 2-0 (+2.0 U, 76.9% ROI) PS: Thinking of running it back with NC Dinos/KT Wiz Over 9.5. I am riding this wave until it stops!
